Description

This tool allows researchers to critically appraise the quality of findings from system reviews of qualitative evidence. Similar to GRADE, CERQual assigns a level of confidence to the body of research rather than individual studies. The components capture core concerns of qualitative researchers, including the richness of findings and the explanatory power of interpretive concepts.

Steps for Using Method/Tool

The GRADE-CERQual tool guides users through four components to critically assess the quality of evidence:

  1. Methodological limitations
  2. Relevance
  3. Coherence
  4. Adequacy
